Yaoi - Gay Erotic Animation
Yaoi (pronounced Yah-oh-ee) refers to fan manga, which is focused on homosexual relationships between male characters. The majority of the creators and audience is young to middle-aged women, and the minority consists of homosexual men. The theory is that heterosexual women find male-male relationships erotic, and that while gay men have the same amount of interest, there are just simply fewer gay men then there is females. The attraction is often more focused on the romantic situations, rather then the actual acts of homosexuality.

Yaoi often has more of a story line to it than heterosexual hentai. The themes presented range from mild adult situations to extreme fetish-oriented works. Some themes include cosplay, monsters, orgies, anthromorphism, and other highly erotic forms of homosexuality.

Even though all parties in Yaoi are male, gender-related power structures are obvious. The giving tend to be restrained, physically strong, and protective, while the receiving is usually more younger, weaker, and appears more feminine. For the past few years, a bigger percentage of yaoi mangaka have been trying to steer away from the stereotypical pairings, quite often switching the roles around.
